The deadline for entry is over. We invited everyone to create a quilt incorporating the challenge fabric. You do not need to be a member to take the challenge. The quilts will be displayed at our Quilts from the Heartland show from October 29 - 30, 2021 at Bloomington’s Monroe Convention Center.

General Challenge Rules

  1. You must use a recognizable amount of the challenge fabric as an integral part of the entry. It must appear in the body of the quilt and not just in the border. The challenge fabric can be purchased at University of Sewing at the Tailored Fit.

  2. Other fabrics may be incorporated in the quilt.

  3. Quilts must be no larger than 25” x 25”.

  4. Entries must be finished quilts. No tops will be accepted.

  5. Entries must be clean and odor free when they are received or they may be returned without consideration for the competition.

  6. Entries can be made by an individual or a group. Additional prizes will not be awarded for group entries.

  7. You may enter as many quilts as you’d like as long as each quilt follows these rules.

  8. This challenge is open to the public.

  9. Entries must be received by October 15, 2021. Quilts can be brought to a guild meeting, dropped off at University of Sewing at the Tailored Fit, or mailed to: BQG, PO Box 5802, Bloomington, IN 47407. Please fill out our online entry form by Oct. 8 as well.
    No late entries will be accepted. University of Sewing at the Tailored Fit and the Bloomington Quilters Guild will not be responsible for entries lost in the mail.

  10. Entries will be displayed at our Bloomington Quilters Guild (BQG) Quilts from the Heartland show from October 29 - 30, 2021 at Bloomington’s Monroe Convention Center. You do not need a sleeve on the back of your entry for hanging.

  11. Winners will be selected and announced October 29 at the quilt show.

M&S Textiles Lillup Dreaming Purple
This is the challenge fabric for the BQG 2021 Quilt Challenge. It is a multi-colored Aboriginal design by Karen Bird. M&S Textiles Australia was established to promote Aboriginal designs to the quilting community. The company pays each artist a fair market wage and licenses these original indigenous art designs, guaranteeing authenticity.
