TREE Quilt - The 2024/2025 Guild Challenge
Every year, there is a quilt challenge, issued by the winner of the previous year’s challenge. This year Jane Pitt issues the challenge Trees!
Quilters have been representing trees in their work for centuries.
Plain or fancy, pieced, appliquéd, or embroidered, trees are always welcomed in quilts. So grab your preferred method and let’s grow some trees! Your entry in our challenge can be any size or shape, but must be quilted and bound, and ready for our June 2025 guild meeting. For more information and to see pictures of winners of previous years see the challenge web page.

Quilts from the Heartland Show
We had a very successful quilt show! Many, many thanks to all of you who donated, organized, volunteered and visited our quilt show. Special kudos for their many hours and leadership to Show Chairs Sandy Bonsib and Karen Levay, Treasure Shop Chairs Ginny Kopper, Becky Green and Sharon Beach, and Treasurer Cathy O'Bryan. Some pictures from the show can be seen on the quilt show webpage.
DONATIONS
Sandy Andersen, a former Bloomington Quilters Guild member, passed away in mid-October. Sandy crafted quilts professionally, selling them at regional craft shows and on her Etsy shop. Our guild, along with Martinsville and Bedford guilds, were graciously invited to “bargain shop” Sandy’s extensive fabric collection. According to her daughter, Barb Ooley, Sandy loved to share her talents and her fabric with friends and charity groups. Jane Pitt reports, "We now have enough fabric for community quilts to last my lifetime!" In addition, BQG received a lovely note and $150 donation to our Community Quilt fund in memory of Sandy Andersen from her friend, Sarah March.
Indiana Heritage Quilt Show
Now that our guild show has reached a successful conclusion, many of our members are turning their attention to the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show. You may

Fall Retreat
A grand time was had by all at the fall retreat! Many many thanks to Jo Ann Sporleder and her assistant Bobbie Mentzell for a fantastic job organizing the retreat.
Are you interested in responding to requests?
The Guild regularly receives requests from people who want an old quilt refurbished, or blocks put together, or machine/hand quilting of a keepsake, etc. Sometimes they are prepared to pay for these services, sometimes they are hoping for mostly a favor. If you are interested in considering these tasks to earn some cash or help preserve someone's memories, let Legene know what you'd be willing to do so she can make a referral. Email Legene at president@bloomingtonquiltersguild.org.
REMINDERS:
• Don’t forget your name tag at the next in-person meeting!
• Bring used rotary blades to any in-person meeting for recycling.
